Hyperspeed Dialup is a web acceleration program that resides on your computer. Hyperspeed Dialup works in conjunction with acceleration servers on the Internet to provide dial-up and low-speed broadband/wireless users with the ability to access web pages, e-mail, and some other forms of Internet content faster than would otherwise be the case.
For detailed information on using Hyperspeed Dialup, see the online Help file while you are connected to the Internet. This file contains information on system requirements, supported and compatible browsers, and Internet access troubleshooting tips.
When you are connected to
the Internet, additional information on product features is available from the
online references that can be accessed from the taskbar menu. To expose the menu,
click the Hyperspeed Dialup icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar.
If you cannot connect to the Internet after installing Hyperspeed Dialup, follow the steps listed below that are appropriate for your browser type.
As part of the acceleration process, Hyperspeed Dialup uses the proxy setting in your browser to direct web traffic to the acceleration server. Hyperspeed Dialup automatically configures the proxy setting in Microsoft Internet Explorer; however, it does not automatically configure it for other browsers. Therefore, if you are not using the Internet Explorer browser, you need to locate the proxy setting in your browser and enter the proxy port number and name for Hyperspeed Dialup. Below we provide some examples for common browsers.
Internet Explorer:
Mozilla Firefox:
Netscape:
Hyperspeed Dialup is
compatible with most ad blockers, popup blockers, personal firewalls, and other
utilities. In some cases, minor configuration of either
Hyperspeed Dialup or other products is required to resolve connection problems or acceleration problems.
Norton Internet Securities If you are using Norton Internet Securities 2003 or 2004, you need to
make the following change to your system:
If you are using personal firewall software on your computer
and you cannot connect to the Internet or receive acceleration,
confirm that the personal firewall is allowing Hyperspeed Dialup to access the web. Most
personal firewall programs have a configuration area that gives you the ability to configure an application
for web access. See the documentation that came with the firewall for details about configuring it. If you experience problems
connecting to the Internet or receiving acceleration and you cannot resolve them by making the configuration changes
described above, you may want to remove Hyperspeed Dialup from
your system and install it again. If that does not resolve the problem, contact your ISP or reseller for further assistance.
