Setup Email in Outlook Express - Macintosh
If you have already
gone throught the Internet Setup Assistant
for MacOS 8 or 9, and set up your email
account, then you do not need to go through
these steps. Follow these steps if you have
created your connection manually, or if
you are setting up an additional email account.
New Email account
- Open Outlook Express.
Click on Tools and then Accounts.
- Click New, and
then click Mail. This will take
you into the Account Setup Assistant.
Your Name
- Type your name in the
Display Name field. This name will appear
on all e-mail messages sent. This is
not your email address - usually it's
your Full Name.
- Click on the right arrow
to continue.
Internet E-mail Address
- Type in your Sum.Net email address in the E-mail
Address field.
- Click on the right arrow.
E-mail Server Names
- My Incoming mail server
is a POP server
- Incoming mail (POP, IMAP) server: mail.sum.net
- Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.sum.net (unless
on our National Dialup plan - then use smtp.safepages.com)
- Click on the right arrow.
Internet Mail Login
- Account ID: Enter the first part of your email
address in here (do not include the @sum.net part).
- Password: Your password
- Check the Save Password
box if you would like your Mac to remember
your email password.
- Click on the right arrow.
Congratulations
- All you have to do here
is enter in a name for the email account.
This name can be anything you would
like, though we recommend using your
email address for identification purposes.
Click on Finish to complete
the setup.
